Chicago Water Tower Engagement Portrait Session

Engagement portrait by Bart Galbas

Engagement Portrait photographed by the steps of historical Chicago Water Tower in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue. This famous city landmark is a Chicago original built in 1860s. It pumped and stored water from Lake Michigan and it's the second oldest water tower in the US.

For this image Bart used the Water Tower as a light source, bouncing his flash from the tower's wall to illuminate the couple with a soft, diffused light. Water Tower Place shopping mall, amongst other stores, serves as a rich and colorful background. What makes this spot even more attractive is its close proximity to Bart's other favorite places, like the Michigan Avenue intersection, Chicago River Walk and Wrigley Building.

Engagement session is a big part of the wedding photography coverage. It creates memorable and beautiful images of the couple that can be used, among other things, for the save the date cards and display prints at the wedding. It also serves as a great way of getting to know the photographer who on the other hand will learn about couple's personalities, likes and dislikes. After all, just like the bridal party, the photographer will be with the couple for the majority of their wedding day.

This engagement image was taken with Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Lens on a full frame D4 body. The light source used by Bart is the flash bounced from the Water Tower's wall and small backlight from the street lamps behind the couple.
